The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a not-for-profit educational and service organization that empowers women to succeed and advance in the field of engineering, and to be recognized for their life-changing contributions as engineers and leaders. Once again, Reiss Engineering participated in this great event. Seasoned Engineer, Janine Alexander, spoke to many interested young ladies from Lyman High School at the SWE Women’s Engineering event. Many participants were eager to speak with Mrs. Alexander to learn more about industry trends and how they can better their future chances of working in this dynamic industry.

Water For People helps people in developing countries improve quality of life by supporting the development of locally sustainable drinking water resources, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education programs. Reiss Engineering assisted Water For People with its annual fundraiser at the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association’s 2010 Fall Conference. Reiss assisted with planning the fundraiser, from preparing marketing materials to calling on community leaders to lend their support, as well as encouraging conference attendees to donate to the cause during the event.

Since Teach-In was established in 1991, it has brought thousands of volunteer speakers into classrooms each year.  This personal interaction has proven to be an invaluable learning opportunity for students and, for business people, a way to help prepare and nurture the future workforce. Reiss Engineering participated in this year’s Teach-In Day at Timber Lakes Elementary. Reiss taught fourth and fifth graders about the engineering trade. During the course of the event, students saw a drill rig on site and learned how it works, designed an airport, and learned about town planning, roadway design and GPS surveying.

In October of 2010, Reiss Engineering joined the community to participate in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Greater Orlando Light the Night event, which took place in downtown Orlando at Lake Eola. During this leisurely walk, walkers carry illuminated balloons - white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost to cancer - thousands of walkers - men, women and children - form a community of caring, bringing light to the dark world of cancer. Participants raised over $210,000 to help fund research to find a cure for blood cancers.

The Mission of the Polk Arts Alliance is to cultivate an environment in which the arts flourish.  The Alliance endeavors to accomplish this through advocacy, coordination, economic development, education and promotion. Reiss Engineering sponsored and ran in this exciting event, which was held at the Fort Blount Park in historic downtown Bartow, FL in March 2010.

B.A.S.E. Camp provides a year-round base of support for children and families who are facing the challenge of living with cancer and other life-threatening hematological illnesses. B.A.S.E. Camp not only provides support services to children directly affected by these illnesses, but also their brothers and sisters. B.A.S.E. Camp organizes monthly over-night camps, hospital lunches, and support groups for the children. Reiss Engineering, Inc. was invited to take part in one of B.A.S.E. Camp’s exciting events, the Seminole County Celebrity Waiter Event. Commissioners and businesses alike joined forces to raise money and awareness about the wonderful services B.A.S.E. Camp provides. During the luncheon, attendees were encouraged to provide donations in exchange for another attendee agreeing to partake in a silly task, like hula hooping, getting hit with a pie in the face, or even swallowing the dreaded goldfish! The event was exciting, funny, and best of all was for a great cause. B.A.S.E. Camp raised approximately $50,000 at the event to assist in providing the children they serve with rest, nourishment, encouragement, and strength along their journey.

Reiss Engineering, Inc. was happy to sponsor and join the Casselberry Chamber of Commerce at the “Celebrate Casselberry – 70th Anniversary” event on October 7, 2010 for a “grand evening of tasting and celebrating”. The Casselberry Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization representing a broad base of prosperity minded businesses and professionals who serve the greater Casselberry community. A portion of the funds raised from this event were used to support the Casselberry Art House's work in the local community. The event was a spectacular mix of culinary tastings, live entertainment, and a silent auction from the Art House.

Reiss Engineering participated in the 11th Annual FWEA Central Florida Chapter Scholarship Golf Tournament in September 2010. Proceeds from the event benefit the Central Florida Chapter’s Scholarship fund, which supports and assists local students in Central Florida who are pursuing engineering degrees at the University of Central Florida. This year’s tournament was held at the Hawk’s Landing Golf Club at the Orlando World Center Marriott.

Each year, Reiss Engineering enjoys a little sun and a whole lot of mud in support of the March of Dimes by participating in their annual Mud Volleyball Tournament. Funds raised through this event support the March of Dimes’ mission of improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. The March of Dimes is the 3rd largest volunteer health organization in the nation. This year’s event raised an incredible $150,000, which will help keep the March of Dimes mission alive throughout the upcoming year.

Reiss Engineering is a proud supporter of the Seminole High School Band. As the “PRIDE” of the “TRIBE”, the Seminole HS Band enriches the lives of students as they grow through musical exploration. The Seminole HS Band is the 3rd largest band in Florida, and has recently been invited to participate in a “trip of a lifetime”. The band has been invited to play at Lord Mayor’s Silver Jubilee 2011 New Year’s Day Parade in London. Reiss lent its support by participating in Seminole HS’s Golf Fundraising Tournament in September 2010, which was held at the Magnolia Plantation Golf Club in Central Florida.

Reiss Engineering participated in and volunteered at the Wine For People wine tasting fundraising event sponsored each year by Water For People. Reiss assisted with planning, organizing, and marketing the event, which was held at the Orange County Regional History Center in July 2010. Water For People helps to develop sustainable water and sanitation infrastructures and provides health education in developing countries. This year’s event featured a live auction, and raised an incredible $24,000 to support their mission. The funds raised from this event will allow over 600 people access to water/sanitation.

Reiss Engineering will be participating once again in the Annual Ocoee Founder’s Day Golf Tournament. The Reiss team looks forward to lending our support to the City each year by joining them in celebrating Ocoee’s history. Founder’s Day is an annual celebration featuring arts and crafts, food, musical entertainment, a 5K walk and run, and poker tournament, and a classic car show. Events are held at the City’s Bill Breeze Park at Starke Lake. This year’s golf excursion is taking place at the Forest Lake Golf Course in Ocoee.

Each year, the City of Melbourne, Florida celebrates the Fourth of July with their Independence Day Celebration. This year, Reiss Engineering co-sponsored the exciting event, which is organized by Honor America, Inc. Reiss’ support funded a shuttle bus service for the duration of the event to shuttle people from designated parking areas to the main event. This year’s celebration featured fireworks over Indian River Lagoon at the Claude Edge Front Street Park, musical entertainment, a parade, and a welcome speech from Mayor Henry Goode.

The Babe Ruth League of Central Florida has come together to create the Central Florida Bambino Buddy Ball League for our special needs children. The league provides physically and mentally challenged athletes a place to enjoy baseball on the field, in the action, rather than sitting in the stands. On April 17, 2010, a dedication ceremony was held at Eastmonte Park in Altamonte Springs to announce the opening of the group’s newly built, fully accessible field. The field includes a fully accessible rubberized playing surface, spacious dugouts, accessible drinking fountains, sidewalks, and covered bleachers. Reiss Engineering is happy to be a Team Sponsor, helping our special needs children enjoy baseball to the fullest.

Reiss Engineering Participated in Seminole County's 2010 Annual Boy Scout Golden Eagle Dinner at the Orlando Marriott Hotel in Lake Mary, Florida.  Reiss sponsored a table at the event, and was also a financial donor to the organization where a total of over $250,000 was raised for this worthy cause.  There were over 500 attendees at the event. Reiss is thankful to those that joined us at this fun and important event, and is grateful for the chance to continue our contributions to Seminole County’s Boy Scouts of America.

In cities all across the United States, tens of thousands of people just like you are showing their commitment to "adding tomorrows every day" to the lives of those with cystic fibrosis through the simple act of walking. The staff of Reiss Engineering participated once again in the 2010 Annual Great Strides Walk in an effort to raise money to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.  The walk, which took place at the Sanford Riverwalk and Altamonte Springs, was a huge success.  Since the first GREAT STRIDES walk in 1989, more than $214 million has been raised to support the vital research and care programs of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Reiss Engineering is proud to have been a participant this year and looks forward to continuing our participation in the years to come.

The children of today are the leaders of tomorrow. That's why Reiss Engineering has supported the Kid's House of Seminole County by attending the 2010 Annual Field of Dreams Gala. We appreciate the efforts of this children's advocacy center, and are always interested to learn how we can be of further assistance in the future.

Reiss Engineering participated in the City of Davenport’s Annual Winterfest. Reiss Engineers Devan Henderson and Lance Littrell joined in on the celebration and enjoyed food, fun, and festivities. This event gave Reiss the opportunity to meet many of the citizens we currently serve through our work with the City. Reiss looks forward to participating in this fun event for years to come.

The City of Davenport hosts the Cruise-In Car Show every 2nd Tuesday of each month. Reiss Engineering was excited to have the opportunity to host this exciting event in January 2010, and looks forward to the next opportunity to join the community in admiring some of its best automotive treasures.

Reiss Engineering attended the Annual Seminole Roasters event in support of the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center in June 2010. The event celebrated the life and times of Senator Lee Constantine, and was enjoyed by many of Reiss’ staff. Joining us at the event were Mr. Charles Lacey, Mayoral Candidate for the City of Winter Springs, Mr. Bates, Mayor of Altamonte Springs, as well as Seminole County Commissioner Gardener Hussey.

The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. Reiss Engineering attended the Breakfast with Billy Donovan event in June 2010 to show our support of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Florida.

Reiss Engineering lent a hand at the 2009 FSAWWA Annual Golf Tournament by registering players and taking photos of the players during the competition. Reiss also competed in the Tournament. This was an exciting opportunity for Reiss to get involved in any industry event and meet other industry professionals from around the nation.

Seasoned Engineer, Kelcia Mazana, spoke to a group of interested young ladies from Lyman High School about the Day in the Life of a Woman Engineer at the SWE Women’s Engineering event. The group gathered as Mrs. Mazana spoke about the many types of engineering and the role women play in the industry. Many participants were eager to speak with Mrs. Mazana after her speech to learn more about industry trends and how they can better their future chances of working in this dynamic industry.

Reiss Engineering is a proud sponsor of the Annual Benefit Golf Tournament for Scout Troop 9. Scouting is a way to keep young men off the streets and teach them to become better citizens.  The funds rose for the Troop 9 in addition to equipment; will help them continually support Small Wonders Home, the Council on Aging Senior Santa program and support troops overseas with packages.

Reiss Engineering is excited to have participated once again in the Annual March of Dimes Mud Volleyball Tournament that was held in August in Orlando. Multiple Reiss staff members, friends, and family members joined in to support the March of Dimes during this wonderful event. There is an alarming 1,305 premature babies a day, which is the number one cause of newborn death. This 5 mile walk-a-thon raises funds and increases awareness about saving these “preemies”. This event provides funding for research to determine factors that may trigger pre-term labor, programs to educate women to recognize warning signs, and tools to help physicians to find better ways to detect if women are at risk for pre-term labor.

REI joined with the Manatee County Government Employees to support the United Way campaign in their County.  REI participated in this worthwhile cause through their sponsorship of the Manatee County United Way Golf Tournament which was held at the University Park Country Club.

Reiss Engineering sponsored Liberty Bell Memorial Museum, which is administered by Honor America, in Melbourne Florida.  Honor America’s goal is to inspire pride in American citizenship by increasing awareness of American ideals and accomplishments.  Their Liberty Bell Memorial Museum’s main focal point is an un-cracked replica of the Liberty Bell that weights about a ton.  Also the museum has a vast collection of military service items and displays of freedom.

The members of the REI Team had the opportunity to celebrate their "animal instincts" by sponsoring and attending the 16th Annual Black Tie on the Wild Side to benefit the Central Florida Zoo.  Dressed as their favorite animal or, in some cases, outfits with a down-under theme, REI folks enjoyed the great tucker, round about, pints and coolers, and the wildest auction in town all in support of our area's long-time local animal attraction.

Typically, these creatures are shy, so there will be no photos of the gang, uh.....bunch, or is it a herd.

Reiss Engineering employees participated in the Annual Founders Day Golf Tournament.  This tournament was just one of many events scheduled as part of this year's Ocoee Founders' Day Festival. We enjoyed being a part of West Orange's signature event having a relaxing day with co-workers and friends as we showed our support for the citizens of Ocoee.  Some of the other activities to enjoy included the 5k Road Race and the Classic Car Show.

Reiss Engineering proudly sponsored the CBC Roaring 20’s Gala, which helped to create new friendships and important relationships that will help CBC of Seminole grow.  Community Based Care of Seminole is an organization that directly helps stop child abuse and neglect.  Their mission is to “protect and inspire every child everyday”, also to provide community resources that will help find safe and caring adoptive families.

Reiss Engineering is a platinum sponsor for the Safe House of Seminole County. We are dedicated to help victims of abuse, at the 2nd Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Luncheon.  The keynote speaker, Denise Brown gave a compelling address to all attendees to "End The Silence".

It was a grand and festive occasion that was enjoyed by all! Perhaps it was the luck of the Irish, so close to St. Patty's Day that made this event such a success. We had the opportunity to show off our culinary skills and the "Green" Reiss Team in action. So far $10,000 was raised as a result of this event and we are proud to have had a share in the support of such a worthy cause. BAM!

The Reiss Team was especially pleased to be able to provide their chili to feed the patrons of the Coalition for the Homeless that evening. It's true what they say, "there's more happiness in giving than in receiving" because, as you can see, we had a good time too!

Reiss Engineering, along with other professionals, joined together with the Junior Achievement organization on May 1st to teach the fourth and fifth graders of St. Cloud Elementary about the world of business.  Students were taught about the manufacturing process and the importance of resources.  With our help we hope the Junior Achievement organization will reach its goal this year of inspiring 96,000 students in the Central Florida area.

This photo speaks for itself. Money was raised for this very worthwhile cause through entrance fees, donations and selling of homemade chili at the Chili Challenge.  Each team was encouraged to choose a "theme" for their booth. REI went with a throw-back and play on words with "Reiss Lightning." Pegged blue jeans, white t-shirts and duck tails made our team a prize winner. Oh, and the chili won, too.

Reiss Engineering believes in being part of the solution no matter what the problem may be. That is why we attended the Diamond Gala that rose over $205,000 (188,000 2007) for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This organization is dedicated to funding blood cancer research education and patient services.  We wholeheartedly give generous support to this organization for it's noble efforts in helping patients and their families.

In early August, Seminole County Environmental Services sponsored a charity bowling tournament to benefit the Good Samaritan Home of Sanford.  The Airport Bowling Center was filled to the maximum with supporters from all over Seminole County.  There wasn't a lane empty!

The Reiss Engineering team had the opportunity to join in on all the fun!  They strapped on their Velcro bowling shoes, picked up their bowling balls and bowled like the pros!  Alright Reiss!

Reiss Engineering had a vast amount of fun participating and sponsoring the Junior Achievement golf tournament of Osceola County. Reiss Engineering also participated in the Junior Achievement In-A-Day Teach In program, teaching valuable lessons to 4th and 5th graders in Osceola County. Junior Achievement of Osceola's mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.  JA programs to more than 12,000 Osceola County students in grades K-12.
